Baetge House-1852

This was the grandest house in the county when it was built, and the first 2-story house in all of Texas. It had nine rooms and two fireplaces. The balcony and doors, including hand forged iron hinges, are original, while many other architectural elements are faithful reproductions. Now recognized as the Crown Jewel of Conservation Plaza, the Baetge House has been decorated with many authentic German and Texas pieces, furniture, books, art, and household implements.
