Haelbig Music Studio -1870

Even in austere and pragmatic times, music played an important part in the lives of early settlers, as evidenced in this 1870-era music studio. German-born Stefen Haelbig was the first classically-trained musician in New Braunfels. He gave music lessons until 1915 when he was 87 years old. On display are instruments played by his students, photos of Haelbig, and his record book showing lessons and payments.
