Tour Historic Old Town Museum

Enjoy a self-guided or guided tour of our award winning 19th century German Texas village. View 18 historic structures and 5 styles of German Fachwerk. There is no better way to appreciate the big hardships and small pleasures of life our German ancestors brought with them to the Texas Hill County.

Free Self-Guided Tour: Exterior buildings and butterfly gardens
Stop by our office near the front gate and pickup your self-guided tour brochure, with QR codes. As you visit each building, aim your smartphone camera at the QR code to enjoy a short video about the building and its unique history. You can also find signs with the QR codes throughout our museum grounds.

Free Guided Tour: Interior and exterior buildings and butterfly gardens
Stop by anytime during museum hours and our docents, when available, will take you on an in-depth guided tour.
You will get to go inside these amazing structures, view historic artifacts and hear fascinating stories about 19th century German Texan life in Comal County.

For groups over 6, it’s best to call in advance. That way we can have knowledgeable docents standing by to take you inside the buildings. (830) 629-2943

Tour Ferdinand Lindheimer Haus

Ferdinand Lindheimer was one of New Braunfels’ most notable citizens and is known world-wide as the Father of Texas Botany, for his discovery of several hundred plant species. Lindheimer Haus was the first restoration project taken on by NBCS.
